Kidney Stones & the Subaltern

Kidney stones are NO FUN. . . I’ve just spent half of my weekend in pain & the other half asleep thanks to the little buggers. . . Interestingly I find out that:

1) For unknown reasons, the number of people in the United States with kidney stones has been increasing over the past 30 years. The prevalence of stone-forming disease rose from 3.8 percent in the late 1970s to 5.2 percent in the late 1980s and early 1990s. (Archaeologists like temporal trends).

2) White Americans are more prone to develop kidney stones than African Americans. (Kidney stones racialize their victims).

3) Stones occur more frequently in men. (Kidney stones are sexist as well).

4) The prevalence of kidney stones rises dramatically as men enter their 40s and continues to rise into their 70s. (So I only have more of this to look forward to. . . )

Given the above information. . . That is that the incidence of kidney stones has been increasing since the onset of postcolonialism, the women’s movement & postmodernity and the targets are disproportionately white males over 40. . . maybe I should look at kidney stones as a grand, cosmic revenge for what we have wrought. They are a weapon of the subaltern!!!!

Chanca Piedra “stone breaker” a rainforest herb stops kidney stones for good.
From the Amazon rain forest comes a herb that not only helps expel stones, but actually blocks them from forming. The locals know it as Chanca Piedra, the “stone breaker.
As you may know, kidney stones are formed when urine becomes too concentrated–usually due to chronic dehydration, infection, various kidney disorders, or deficiencies in magnesium. If the stone gets too large to pass it can shift and block the urine flow, possibly injuring the kidney. Chanca Piedra relaxes that tube, opening it up and letting the stones move down with greater ease. Chanca Piedra also prevents stones from forming. So If you’re suffering from kidney stones you need to give Chanca Piedra a try.
