test. . . . test. . . is this thing on?

My name is Jamie Brandon and I am a Ph.D. candidate in anthropology at the University of Texas at Austin.

I am, however, currently living in the Arkansas Ozarks to wrap up my research, teach a little and write the dissertation.

I expect that this blog will be a bit of a distraction from writing said book, but I am hopeful that it will also be a forum for me to work out my thoughts on a variety of subjects. . . . including: historical memory, anthropology/archaeology, race & whiteness, and, of course, the events of my own life.

The posts may sometimes seem obtuse, disorganized, or simply incomprehensible (like a list of things to do, or observations), but remember: this thing is as much a tool for me as it is for your enjoyment (how self centered can I be?).

BTW: check out projectpast.org. . . in the links section. . . for more on my work & the work of my colleagues.

More to come,

jcb
